A mobile phone chip which can diagnose medical conditions on the spot will be available in five years it has been predicted .
Experts are on the verge of perfecting a tiny microchip that reads swabs or blood tests and slots into a mobile phone, so it can be sent to your doctor eliminating the wait for results to be received from laboratory reports.
The invention is the result of a collaboration between Orla Protein Technologies and Tokyo-based Japan Radio Company. The collaboration was assisted by RTC North Ltd.
